Following the end of the 2023 Writers and Actors Strikes, 17 CBS Strike Honoring Scripted Television Series went into high gear to come up with 10 to 14 great, scripted episodes during a Strike Shortened 2023 - 2024 Television Season that was to have begun in the fall of 2023, but did not actually begin until Mid February of 2024.
Parent Company of CBS, National Amusements, working in tandem with Paramount Global and Paramount Plus, appeared to have approved pre-emptive January, 2024 new Scripted Series CBS pitch sessions with several Showrunners who would replace 5 of the Strike Honoring CBS Scripted Television Series.
Meanwhile, at the same time as these pitch meetings were going on, 17 Strike Honoring CBS Series were working their tails off making up for lost time because of the 191 day Writer's and Actor's Strikes, to create 10 to 14 newly scripted television episodes so CBS would have tremendous momentum going into the fall 2024 season.

No one but yours truly, Alessandro Machi, has publicly stated the following, there is a massive amount of evidence that National Amusements was allowing nascent, Pilot episodes to be pitched, AND greenlit, for the fall 2024 season, irrespective of how well all 17 CBS scripted Television Series performed during the Strike Shortened 2024 Winter Season.
Hollywood media seemed to not challenge the ethics of why it was acceptable to cancel Strike Honoring, CBS Television Series before they had begun airing their 10 to 14 post strike episodes.
And then there's Todd, as in So Help Me Todd. CBS laid out the most disruptive, incongruous schedule for So Help Me Todd that included numerous disruptions of Todd's regular Thursday, 9pm Todd Time Slot. Incredibly, 3 of the 5 spare CBS time slots that would allow Todd to rebroadcast a new episode to boost its MP Ratings, instead went to First Season Todd reruns so the 1st season episode viewing numbers could NOT count towards the strike shortened season viewership numbers.
Additionally, of the remaining 2 extra So Help me Todd time slots, one of the 2 Todd second season reruns that would have been eligible to boost Todd's MP rating, was broadcast outside of the 35 day MP time limit, meaning ONLY ONE of FIVE additional Todd slots were used to boost Todd's MP ratings. Both Elsbeth and Tracker each received FIVE time slots to boost their episodic MP Viewership Numbers, Todd had one.
I've calculated that Todd's total viewership numbers suffered an average loss of 2 million viewers for each of the 10 episodes, and, that number might have increased moreso if the early season repeat time slots had actually repeated 2nd season episodes so fans were not confused by seeing 3 first season reruns, and instead would have been sharing word of mouth approval of Todd's second season episodes.
Despite all of the scheduling and ratings debris left in Todd's wake, IMDb fan voting still voted So Help Me Todd's 10 post strike episodes the HIGHEST IMDd RATED SERIES among all 17 Series even as so Help Me Todd had already been cancelled before it had run any post strike episodes.
It appears collateral damage comeuppance has arrived at CBS. After CBS's
inevitable rebound year following the Strike shortened season, in which CBS proudly
boasted that they were justified in crucifying 5 Strike Honoring CBS
Television Series with cancellation, CBS has now experienced a double
digit drop in their ratings.
What make so Help Me Todd such a
special series for CBS was it gave CBS fans a happiness boost to CBS's weekly schedule, and made watching other CBS series that focused more
on action, violence, and kidnapping, more palatable. Ever since Todd was unfairly and unethically cancelled, I have lost interest in NUMEROUS CBS Scripted Television Series that I previously watched, as have many other CBS fans.
Let
it be known, National Amusements, Paramount Plus, Paramount Global, and CBS, all played a
role in cancelling the TOP Fan Rated IMDB Post Strike Scripted
Television Series, So Help Me Todd, and fans are still upset, as
evidenced by the 83,000 plus Petition Signatures on 3 separate
Petitions, that most likely would have DOUBLED that amount, if National
Amusements had not further sabotaged So Help Me Todd's mounting popularity
by refusing to rerun Todd's 10 episode, second season, from which there
were several episodes worthy of an Emmy Nomination.
